John Dreyer Optometrist Bsc(Hons), MCOPTOM, DipCLP

John Dreyer studied Ophthalmic Optics at the University of Aston in Birmingham, UK from 1977 - 1980 where he achieved a Bachelor of Science Honours degree.

After leaving University he worked at Colchester Eye Hospital and then completed the British College of Optometrists Professional Qualifying Examination, and received his MCOptom certification. He then worked extensively in the Contact Lens field both in hospital and in practice over the next few years and subsequently completed the prestigious Diploma in Contact Lens Practice (DipCLP) in 1983.

He then spent the next few years working in Contact Lens practices in Manchester before joining Specsavers as a Contact Lens Specialist in Bristol. He ran various contact lens training courses for staff for Specsavers throughout the country and wrote the first company contact lens staff training manuals.

John has authored for Contactlenses.co.uk over the last 20 years, bringing his expertise to visitors to the site and providing valuable optical advice to customer questions throughout the years. He has been featured by several leading publications including The Express and ITProPortal
